I’m especially tickled by all the programming the California Academy of Sciences is rolling out for their beloved albino alligator, Claude. They’ve dedicated the entire month of September to his 30th “hatch day.” We’re definitely checking it out — and while we’re there, tagging on a trip to the Aquarium for Felix. I’m hoping to borrow some inspiration for the sensory bins we’re putting together for our next playdate, too. I’m having so much fun thinking of ways to bring the magic.  Storytime – The Curious Color of Claude
Wednesday 9/3  Hear a live reading with the author, his caretakers, and the Claude Mascot for photo ops! Free, family event. (11am)

 Meet the Animal Keepers – Randall Museum
Saturday 9/6 Drop in to meet snakes, owls, or tortoises up close while learning how the keepers care for them. Free family program. (11:30am - 12:30pm)

 Kite by the Bay Festival – Candlestick Point State Recreation Area
Saturday 9/6 Decorate and fly kites (kits provided!), enjoy free food, learn to fish, and dance to DJ BeatsMe. Free — please register. (12pm - 3pm)

Balloon Museum – EmotionAir
Now through 9/7 Final week to experience the inflatable art playground before it floats away! Tickets required.

Sunday 9/7 A neighborhood tradition with 200+ vendors, food, music, a Children’s Alley (jumpy house & library bus), and a skate jam. Free, all ages. (11am - 5:30pm)
