The Blue Angels, Bilingual Storytime, and a Night at the Church of 8 Wheels

Tokyo has been a dream so far. Obviously traveling with the baby adds a lot of logistics, but things have been going relatively smoothly. Currently Felix is napping on the couch of the tea room in our hotel while I write our weekly check in. Let’s get into what’s going on in San Francisco this week.

Fleet Week SF – Citywide
Sunday 10/5 – Monday 10/13 A high-flying favorite for families with little ones who love planes, jets, and all things that soar. Catch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels during the Air Show (Oct 10–12), or enjoy free concerts in parks around the city by the Navy and Marine Corps bands. (times vary)
Free admission; arrive early for the best views along the waterfront.

Tuesday Night Roller Disco (All Ages) – Church of 8 Wheels
Tue 10/7 Lace up and roll into this all-ages skate night hosted by D. Miles Jr., the Godfather of Skate. Groove under the disco lights, soak up the “rolligion,” and enjoy classic beats. (6pm - 7:30pm)

Storytime for Toddlers (Bilingual Español/English) – SF Public Library
Thu 10/9 – Enjoy a lively bilingual storytime with books, songs, and movement for toddlers 16 months to 2 years and their caregivers. Space is limited; tickets available at the Garfield Recreation Center entrance starting at 9:45 AM. (10:15am – 10:45am)

Little Bears Music Class – Thrive City
Friday 10/10 – Bring your little bears to shake, rattle, and rock ‘n’ roll with Teacher Barb! This joyful class blends timeless rock, folk, and jazz classics with interactive rhythm and movement, helping kids explore music as a form of self-expression. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.
Free; space is limited and first-come, first-served.

Parents in the City Kids’ Clothing & Toy Swap – Stratford School
Saturday 10/11 – Trade in gently used kids’ clothes, toys, and Halloween costumes for “new to you” finds while connecting with other local families. A fun and sustainable way to refresh your little one’s wardrobe and playroom. Kids welcome! (1pm – 4pm)

Around the World Through Dance – San Francisco Symphony
Saturday 10/11 Take a musical journey across the globe with this Music for Families concert, featuring live classical performances designed to spark curiosity in kids ages 5–12. Enjoy an instrument petting zoo and coloring station before the show, plus a lobby exhibit on cellist Gautier Capuçon’s Gaïa project. (2pm)

Latinx Heritage Celebration – Children’s Fairyland
Weekends 10/5–10/20 Celebrate and uplift the vibrant beauty of the Latinx diaspora with traditional arts and crafts, hands-on activities, live entertainment, and special workshops for older kids. Enjoy new cultural performances and enrichment experiences each weekend in partnership with local artists.
