We’re officially expanding Playdate to the Bay!!

When I first started this newsletter in LA (nearly three years ago), it was just a little list of cool things to do with my kids. It’s grown into something so much bigger - a creative, connected community that hosts events and brings parents together from all over the city. I couldn’t be more excited to bring that same energy to San Francisco.

Starting this week, you’ll be hearing from Aubrey - a new mom, artist, and community builder who’s passionate about creating the kinds of spaces that make for beautiful childhoods. She’ll be your go-to guide for family fun around SF, sharing her favorite finds every week. I know you’re going to love her picks and perspective. We’re so happy you’re here.

Hey, I’m Aubrey and I’m so excited to be here as your weekly voice behind Playdate SF! I'm a new mom to baby Felix, 5 months old, an artist, and someone who wants to curate a really cool childhood experience for my son, and our friends and family.

Each week, I’ll be sharing a few gems under “Here’s where I’m taking my kid this week” spots I’ve personally scouted that are worth your time. I’m having so much fun exploring San Francisco through little eyes.

📍Redwood City
Thursday 8/8 Watch Beetlejuice under the stars at Movies on the Square. It’s free and totally family-friendly. Bring a blanket, snacks, and cozy layers. Movie starts at sunset. (8:30pm)

📍 The San Francisco Zoo
Friday 8/9 Sunset Fridays are back at SF Zoo! Enjoy live music, kid-friendly activities, and animal encounters during this after-hours zoo experience. A perfect mellow Friday evening. (5pm - 7pm)

📍 Golden Gate Park
Friday 8/9 - Sunday 8/11 Take the kids to Outside Lands - yes, there’s a Kids Zone! While the big acts play the main stages, families can explore a tucked away area with interactive art, games, and chill spaces just for little ones. Bring headphones, snacks, and a picnic blanket if you’re braving the scene with the whole crew.

📍Fairyland - Oakland
Saturday 8/10 Don’t miss Magic Kitchen, a whimsical cooking-themed puppet show perfect for little imaginations. Included with general admission - make a day of it and explore the whole park. (11am - 2pm showtimes)

📍 Haight-Ashbury
Saturday 8/10 SFPL Park Branch Open House is happening this Saturday. Expect crafts, cozy corners, and its of local love for this historic branch. Great for a quiet, creative break in the day. (11am - 2pm)
